National Certified Guardian (NCG) Teri E. McRae has over 35 years of experience in business, finance, guardianship, and management.

Teri’s experience and passion for helping those in unique emotional, financial, medical, and legal situations led her to start McRae & Associates in 2009.

Over the past 9 years, Teri has been involved with over 70 clients, each in different circumstances. Her robust guardianship and fiduciary experience provides insight into the challenges and conveniences associated with involving a third party with personal and family situations. Thanks to this insight, McRae & Associates is able to deliver a more personal and compassionate approach.

Teri has worked with clients in many capacities, some of which include Power of Attorney, trustee, guardian, and/or conservator, and her expertise in probate proceedings and estate and trust management has made her Maine’s go-to guardianship and fiduciary professional.

From 2005 to 2008, Teri served as Register of Probate for Cumberland County and was responsible for the operation of the largest probate court in Maine. She has been approved and appointed to five different probate courts in the state of Maine and continues her work across the state to this day.

In 2014, Teri became a National Certified Guardian (NCG). This certification is the definitive method of recognition among guardianship professionals, and those who acquire certification are required to adhere to the Standards and Ethics established by the National Guardianship Association. Extensive prior experience as guardian, conservator, and trustee, and a continually evolving knowledge of the field are also requirements for obtaining certification.

As a National Certified Guardian, Teri combines her extensive knowledge of finance, elder care, the medical system, and probate proceedings to help clients in a variety of situations.

Teri grew up in Denver, Colorado. She earned a Bachelor’s in Economics at Brandeis University and a Master’s in Finance from the MIT Sloan School of Management. Teri’s early work in finance and economics provided a firm foundation for her work and specialization in guardianship and fiduciary responsibility.

Teri currently serves on the Board for the Center for Guardianship Certification. She is continually motivated by her clients and their cases, and works hard to preserve quality of life and maintain a depth of caring based on the needs of each individual.
